How do I make study notes without making them too detailed?

I love making study notes when I study. I like doing outlines. I usually read my lecture notes, highlight the important things, and then make my outline writing the important details I highlighted in my own words if possible but even when I do that it seems like my notes are still too detailed and take too long to make. Any tips on how I can make shorter study notes and not get too over detailed with them?How do I make study notes without making them too detailed?
It's hard to do. Some things that I have done are typing my notes on my laptop. Even though my notes may be just as long they take less time to make and are easier to read. If your teacher has PowerPoint lectures you can ask her for a copy and print them out as handouts 3 slides per page. Then you don't have to rewrite what is on the PowerPoint slide.
