When making immigration adjustment of status applications how EXACTLY should check be made out?

My husband and I are in the process of submitting our documentation for me to adjust status and apply for permanent residency in the US. USCIS told us that the check should be made out to 'USCIS' but the forms clearly state that the check should be made out to 'US Department of Homeland Security'.

If anyone has already done this and knows the correct way to address the check please let us know! Thank you! When making immigration adjustment of status applications how EXACTLY should check be made out?
They are suppose to be made out to the United States Department of Homeland Security, but they accept them made out to the USCIS, also. Just do it to the US Department of Homeland Security and you wont get any surprises.

Follow the instruction on your adjustment of status applications.
Go to uscis.gov and do whatever the 'special instructions' for the I-485 or concurrent filing instructions say.

The last check I wrote them was to U S Citizenship and Immigration Service, so I guess I'm not much help! :)
